Singing the Lord's Song...Beyond The Hymnal 1982
We have been gifted with a wonderful treasure in our current hymnal, but there is much more to explore which highlights the rich cultural diversity within the Episcopal Church. Our hymnal supplements Wonder, Love, and Praise; Lift Every Voice and Sing II; Voices Found; and Enriching Our Worship I & II, have so much to teach us about who we are and the myriad of ways to sing the liturgy. We are a diverse church and our liturgy and music must reflect who we claim to be. Let us explore how musical diversity and musical excellence can work together to foster liturgical music which honors our past, speaks to our present, and embraces our future. Led by Dr. Michael Boney (Organist and Director of Music of St. John’s Cathedral, Denver, CO), this workshop will seek to provide practical tools and best practices for the attendee to explore approved hymnal resources and personal experiences as the foundation for music ministry in the 21st Century.Dr. Michael BoneyLiturgy & Music Track

Changes in Giving Practices in 2019: What You Need to Know and What to Do About It
Since 2016, the fundraising landscape has changed significantly--especially for faith-based communities. New donor motivations for giving have emerged, giving trends have dramatically changed, and the charitable tax law went into effect. In an era of rage donations, many are looking for ways to have agency within complicated social systems or to repair what feels deeply broken. Our giving increasingly testifies to what we believe and how we concretely act. Learn how to meet your congregation's needs through donor-based strategies in the ministry of giving. Utilizing hands on research and expertise, we will present new adaptive practices, provide opportunities to apply in your own congregational context, and walk away with needed tools to support your work.Erin Weber-Johnson, and the Rev. Strategy for a Changing Church
Our World is changing; the technology, our lifestyles and culture, the accepted “norms” and expectations for the future, the climate plus much more. How is your church planning for the future? What major changes are you planning to make? What outcomes are you seeking and why? What resources are needed and how will they be acquired?

This workshop discusses some of the questions and how to seek the answers for your church; exploring vision through defined outcomes, understanding how the demands of leadership are changing, and how you can be part of spreading Christ’s teachings while balancing the budget and serving your community effectively. Remember, strategy = major change, no buts!

Holy Eucharist

Sunday, January 17, 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM

Worship in the Episcopal Church rests on scripture and the traditions of the elegant language of the Book of Common Prayer. While the worship might seem more formal than spontaneous, we reliably read scripture every time we worship together, and we follow the liturgy that has stood the test of time. Our worship is in letting the liturgy carry us along into a deeper spiritual awareness and connection with God.
